Ever since I was little, rom-coms have been a big part of my life. The lighthearted love stories, with a little bit of cringe and added humor, have always sparked my interest in that type of movie.
When deciding what I wanted to do for my project, I instantly came up with the idea of creating my own rom-com—with twists and my own perspective on a funny, lighthearted funny yet romantic teenage love story. To accomplish those goals, I realize that I need to focus on some key elements: strong cinematography, how I will record my project, the location of filming, and the meaning of the story itself.
I think choosing shots like zoom-ins, long tracking shots, and point-of-view shots will really help convey the emotions of my characters and give it more of a rom-com feel. I also think it's very important to dress in typical teenage attire—like leggings and a hoodie or a simple shirt and sweatpants—using vibrant colors to match the lighthearted tone of the film.
Additionally, having strong dialogue is crucial in explaining the character's situation. The dialogue will either be in text or spoken, both of which will help set the scene and the storytelling. Another key point will be the lighting I chose with the right kind of lighting it really ties the whole film together So people can get the vibe of the romcom.
