Final touches to my project!

Hii Cambridge I'm so excited to share with you my project idea so here it is I hope you like it!! In my romantic comedy film the themes of secret identity, disbelief, excitement, the unknown, and anxious anticipation are all shown to get a better understanding of what the actor is going through. The movie, which takes place entirely inside a house, focuses on a teenage girl who gets a mysterious text from an unknown number. Although he won't reveal himself, he is a kid in her math class, and says he has a crush on her. Instead of actually telling her straight up who he is he suggests playing 20 questions a game, which takes her on a journey of emotions as she tries to guess who this mystery boy might be. Using long shots, tracking shots, zoom-ins on her phone and her facial expressions, and subjective POV shots, the film captures her excitement and nervousness as she handles her online mystery. The minimal dialogue will have mostly written text, with foley sounds such as the typing and ringing of a phone and very light instrumental music to add to the mood.

The film uses traditional romantic comedy stereotypes, but in a way that speaks to teenagers in a way they're familiar with. To show the comfortable home environment, the main character (me) will dress in a comfortable vibe where she will wear leggings and a hoodie. I want to keep a natural, laid-back vibe that fits with a teen's daily life. My goal is to make a film that appeals to teenagers and highlights the excitement and unpredictability of communication online in modern teenage romance.

my media theory!!!

Hii Cambridge Today I'm going to be telling you all about the media theories I want to incorporate into my project. The theories I have chosen are Todorov’s Narrative Theory and Disequilibrium theory. To start off, Todorov’s Narrative Theory helps mold my romantic comedy short film by giving it a clear beginning, middle, and end. The equilibrium is the start of the story, where the audience meets the main character, which is me, a teenage girl just living her normal life at home. She might be sitting in the kitchen, texting a friend, or relaxing in her bedroom while browsing on her phone. This part of my film sets up her personality and habits, so the audience feels connected to her. To capture her feelings up close, I want to use long tracking shots and zoom-ins on her face and phone. Since the movie is set in a cozy home environment, she’ll wear clothes like leggings and a hoodie, keeping it realistic and causal.

When she receives a mysterious text from an unknown number, the disequilibrium begins. Instead of clarifying his true identity at first, he asks her to play a game of 20 questions to determine who he is, stating to be a boy from her math class who has a crush on her. She is at first intrigued and thrilled, but as the game goes on, she begins to feel anxious and uncertain. A sudden turn of events causes her to rethink everything just when she believes she knows who it is. A more authentic and personal atmosphere will be produced by the limited music and background noises like typing on a phone and the ringer of her phone going off. The new equilibrium comes when she finally finds out who he is. No matter her feelings, which could be happiness, shock, or even a hint of disappointment—this ending will bring this story to its satisfying end. By using romantic comedy elements like confusion, secret identity, and excitement, my film will feel fun and very relatable to a teenage audience who knows what it’s like to communicate through texts and social media and through there ways of the internet.

A movie that uses theses theories is to all the boys ive loved before and that movie really influnced me to create my film a rom com and uses theses theories

My first group meeting!!!

Heyy Cambridge I’m back I'm so excited to tell you all about my amazing group meeting. We started off with Sofia as the first person we talked to in my group. In her mystery-comedy, a girl tries to figure out why her sister vanished, but no one takes her seriously. To bring out the comedy part while keeping the excitement of the mystery, she wants to use vibrant lighting and costumes. It will be interesting to watch how she is going to keep a good balance between the two genres without letting one overpower the other.

The next person we talked to as a group was David. He wants his movie to look like a vintage film/Older style film, but he doesn't have a specific plot yet. To bring out the visuals in his film, he plans to use master shots, long shots, and very bright lighting. It might be difficult to keep people interested without a story, but I think once he develops a plot and figures out what he wants to do it could look really cool and be a great film!

The third person in our group was Gabriel. His film genre is action. He wants to make a film about a spy in the Southwest who has to kill someone. In order to highlight the situation and give the world a sense of reality, he is going to use lots of long and establishing shots. His idea seems like a really good one, and the setting might help make it more dramatic, and I think his film will be really amazing if he uses all the advice our group gave him.

Last but not least we have Santago in His film he is making a suspense horror with lots of running, tracking shots, and dark lighting. In order to keep the creepy environment, he wants to use only two or three lighting arrangements. His use of lighting and movement, in my opinion, will give his movie a spooky, intense vibe which will definitely keep viewers hooked.

Overalll I think my group had many good ideas and gave me some good ideas to portray. The best project I could possibly make. Bye for now cambridge!!

Here are some pictures from the day i discusesd all of this with my group.

Here are my notes from what my classmates said
