my media theory!!!

Hii Cambridge Today I'm going to be telling you all about the media theories I want to incorporate into my project. The theories I have chosen are Todorov’s Narrative Theory and Disequilibrium theory. To start off, Todorov’s Narrative Theory helps mold my romantic comedy short film by giving it a clear beginning, middle, and end. The equilibrium is the start of the story, where the audience meets the main character, which is me, a teenage girl just living her normal life at home. She might be sitting in the kitchen, texting a friend, or relaxing in her bedroom while browsing on her phone. This part of my film sets up her personality and habits, so the audience feels connected to her. To capture her feelings up close, I want to use long tracking shots and zoom-ins on her face and phone. Since the movie is set in a cozy home environment, she’ll wear clothes like leggings and a hoodie, keeping it realistic and causal.

When she receives a mysterious text from an unknown number, the disequilibrium begins. Instead of clarifying his true identity at first, he asks her to play a game of 20 questions to determine who he is, stating to be a boy from her math class who has a crush on her. She is at first intrigued and thrilled, but as the game goes on, she begins to feel anxious and uncertain. A sudden turn of events causes her to rethink everything just when she believes she knows who it is. A more authentic and personal atmosphere will be produced by the limited music and background noises like typing on a phone and the ringer of her phone going off. The new equilibrium comes when she finally finds out who he is. No matter her feelings, which could be happiness, shock, or even a hint of disappointment—this ending will bring this story to its satisfying end. By using romantic comedy elements like confusion, secret identity, and excitement, my film will feel fun and very relatable to a teenage audience who knows what it’s like to communicate through texts and social media and through there ways of the internet.

A movie that uses theses theories is to all the boys ive loved before and that movie really influnced me to create my film a rom com and uses theses theories
